We have heard great sound being produced by a $20 microphone, but we do recommend the AudioTechnica AT-2020 USB at a street price around $149. If you want to spend a little more money take a serious look at the Røde USB podcaster microphone with a street price around $229.

No matter what microphone you get you will need a POP filter to eliminate plosives and protect your microphone from saliva. A pop filter will greatly enhance your recording.
