What is WordPress? PDF Print E-mail

WordPress is a free - and highly configurable - blogging, videoblogging and podcasting system.

There are two versions of WordPress:

  1. A hosted version at www.WordPress.com
  2. A version to be installed on your own host - find it at www.WordPress.org

Pops Productions always recommends the version to be hosted on your own host. On many hosting accounts, you can just add WordPress with a couple of mouse clicks. Some hosting companies - like GoDaddy - does not like to tell you about this option as they have their own products they want to upsell you to.

Once you have installed WordPress, you can add a wide variety of plug ins that will enhance the functionality - you can even integrate shopping carts into wordpress.

If you do not know how to do design you can find a huge selection of free WordPress themes on the internet. Just be aware some themes are not fully compatible with some of the plug ins you might want to use.

At Pops Productions we can help you set up your WordPress blog and get you blogging in a couple of hours.
